Around Les Eyzies

This is the second post from my recent Dordogne trip.

I should perhaps add something about the circumstances of all the photos. This was a study tour, a group of 20 with an expert guide. So our pace and movements were not wholly self-determined at any moment, which meant that it wasn't possible to set shots up thoughtfully and carefully. I took the small Sony compact with me (there are previous posts about this camera) and used it on Auto+ the whole time, so as to take photos quickly, and then be able to move on with the group. I still shot in RAW, not JPEG, so I've been able to develop the photos in some detail at home, to make up for any deficiencies in the camera's determination of how to shoot a scene.

Les Eyzies is surrounded by limestone cliffs, some of which show clear evidence of earlier troglodytic villages - entrances and window spaces can be seen cut into the limestone faces. And the tops of these cliffs afford panoramic views of the town.
