Winter night and day

During an evening of freezing fog, this web appeared on a parked car sometime between 7pm and 11pm


And the next morning, it seemed that other spiders had been busy in the cold


Bright sun on hoar frost hadn't yet melted the ice


But it was doing its best


And succeeded in the open spaces

Watching plaster dry

Hint: it's a lot slower than paint!

I wasn't sure if or how to try to document this stage of the house refurbishment. I didn't want to omit it, as it's the first stage of reconstruction after all the seeming destruction. But it was a challenge for me to know how to make a picture or pictures of it, and it was a challenge for the camera, too. Lots of blurry shades of the same colour, fuzzy edges, no sharp transitions, nothing for the camera to focus on.

December sunset

A day without workmen in the house . . . glancing outside, a sunset appearing suddenly when the light is already almost gone . . . catching it quickly, no time to get another camera out, no time to choose a vantage point . . . taken from the back garden, on the compact set to auto/night.
