Puzzlewood is an extraordinary piece of ancient woodland, intriguing vegetation and geology, strange land forms . . . the remnants of Roman iron ore mining . . . all making for a seemingly magical world, variously touted as Fairyland or Tolkein's Middle Earth. It is both ecologically and geologically significant. It is now a tourist attraction, a nature reserve, occasionally a film set.
