Monthly monochromes - October

I've already posted a lot of monochromes this month, but none of them were intentionally monochrome when I took the photos; they were just processed that way later. These are October's intentional monochromes.

Autumn colours - mostly in the garden

This last set isn't from my garden. I was returning to the car park in town, and saw this tree sapling, self-seeded in a crack at the base of a wall. Trying bravely to survive, severely lacking water, but flaring in bright colours in the October midday sun.

Warwick University Campus (6) - sculpture all in red

This is the sixth (and final one) of a series of posts from a recent visit of my U3A photography group to the campus at Warwick University. The university has a significant collection of outdoor modern scultpure, scattered over the campus and open to the public at all times.

On the day we visited the weather started out dull and overcast, so the light lent itself particularly to monochrome images to begin with. Later, as the light changed, colour images became more interesting. These are all images of the same work, from different perspectives.

Warwick University Campus (5) - buildings with colour

This is the fifth of a series of posts from a recent visit of my U3A photography group to the campus at Warwick University. On the day we visited the weather started out dull and overcast, so the light lent itself particularly to monochrome images to begin with. Later, as the light changed, colour images became more interesting. In this series are coloured buildings, or buildings with coloured decoration, or white buildings with coloured autumn foliage.

Warwick University Campus (4) - sculpture with colour

This is the fourth of a series of posts from a recent visit of my U3A photography group to the campus at Warwick University. The university has a significant collection of outdoor modern scultpure, scattered over the campus and open to the public at all times.

On the day we visited the weather started out dull and overcast, so the light lent itself particularly to monochrome images to begin with. Later, as the light changed, colour images became more interesting. I start here with sculptures that are themselves coloured, or are shown accompanied by nearby colour.

Warwick University Campus (3) - just architecture, in monochrome

This is the third of a series of posts from a recent visit of my U3A photography group to the campus at Warwick University. On the day we visited the weather was dull and overcast for much of the time, so the light lent itself particularly to monochrome images. In this set, I focus on buildings, outside and inside. The indoor images are of the new Faculty of Arts building.

Warwick University Campus (2) - construction and foliage in monochrome

This is the second of a series of posts from a recent visit of my U3A photography group to the campus at Warwick University. On the day we visited the weather was dull and overcast for much of the time, so the light lent itself particularly to monochrome images. In this set, I focus on the combination of buildings and hard landscaping with autumn foliage, rendered in monochrome.

Warwick University Campus (1) - sculpture in monochrome

This is the first of a series of posts from a recent visit of my U3A photography group to the campus at Warwick University. The university has a significant collection of outdoor modern scultpure, scattered over the campus and open to the public at all times.

On the day we visited the weather was dull and overcast for much of the time, so the light lent itself particularly to monochrome images. I start with mono images of some of the sculptures.
